What We Install & Repair
The finish work in a bathroom — towel bars, mirrors, cabinets, hooks — lives or dies on what happens behind the wall. Tile, drywall, and old plaster each want a different bit and anchor, and daily steam punishes anything mounted wrong. We do the mounting and accessory side of the room: hung level, anchored to hold, drilled without cracking your tile. Anything touching water lines or drains goes to a licensed plumber, and we draw that line before we start.

Common Problems We Solve
A towel bar that ripped out of the drywall
Someone grabbed it and the plastic cone anchors gave, leaving ragged holes. We patch the damage, then remount with toggle anchors rated for the load — or shift the bracket onto a stud — so it survives the next grab.
A fixture that needs to go on tile
Tile cracks when it is drilled in hammer mode or with the wrong bit. We mark through tape, drill with a carbide or diamond bit at low speed, and anchor into what is behind the tile — the tile never carries the load.
A heavy mirror or medicine cabinet with nothing to grab
Weight decides the method. Studs first; when the layout refuses to cooperate, a French cleat or heavy-rated toggles spread the load instead of hoping two screws hold thirty pounds of glass.
A shower door that drags, gaps, or will not stay shut
Sliding doors go off-track as rollers wear; hinged doors drift out of plumb. We adjust rollers and hinges, re-seat the sweep, and align the strike so the door closes without a shove.
How It Works
Set the layout together
Heights and positions get taped up and approved before any drilling — holes in tile are forever, and standing back to look is the cheapest step of the job.
Read the wall
We find studs and check whether the surface is tile, bare drywall, or plaster. The anchor decision is the whole job; everything after it is drilling.
Drill and mount
The right bit for the surface, pilots at the right size, and fixtures set square to each other across the room.
Load-test and hand over
Every bar and hook gets pulled on before we call it done. If we spotted anything on the water side — a weeping shutoff, a corroded supply line — you hear about it, with a referral to a licensed plumber.
What's Not Included
- Faucet replacement — in both Oregon and Washington that is licensed-plumber work, and we refer it rather than touch it.
- Supply lines, shutoff valves, and anything at or behind the shower valve — licensed plumber, no exceptions.
- Drain and trap work, including slow drains and under-sink leaks — same referral.
- Toilet replacement or reseating — pulling a toilet involves the water connections, so it goes to a plumber.
- Recessed medicine cabinets — cutting into the wall cavity is a bigger project, quoted only after checking what runs through that wall.
- Bath fan installation — the fan is wired, which makes it electrician work.
What Affects the Price
- Wall surface
- Drywall mounts go fast; every hole through tile is drilled slowly and carefully, and old plaster sits in between.
- Piece count
- Setup is the same for one towel bar or seven fixtures; bundling a whole bathroom into one visit is the efficient buy.
- Repair before remount
- Fixtures that ripped out leave holes to patch, and sometimes soggy drywall to cut back, before anything can be re-anchored.
- Fixture weight
- A robe hook takes one anchor; a large framed mirror takes stud-finding, heavy-rated hardware, and a second pair of hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you hang a towel bar where there is no stud?
Yes — studs rarely land where a towel bar looks right. Toggle-style anchors rated well past the expected load hold fine in sound drywall — the failures come from the cheap cone anchors packed in the box, which we throw away on principle.
Will drilling my tile crack it?
Not when it is done right. Cracks come from hammer mode and dull masonry bits, not careful drilling. Where possible we go through grout lines instead — easier on the tile, and easier to patch if the fixture ever moves.
Why can you swap a showerhead but not a faucet?
The showerhead threads onto the exposed shower arm — exempt fixture work, no different from changing a hose nozzle. A faucet connects to the supply lines, which puts it in licensed-plumber territory in Oregon and Washington. We stop at the threads and refer everything past them.
My bathroom has no fan and stays damp — will mounted fixtures hold up?
Humidity is the real enemy in fan-less Northwest bathrooms. Chronic damp softens drywall until anchors lose their grip, and cheap plated hardware corrodes at the setscrews first. We use stainless or coated fasteners, keep anchors out of wall areas that probe soft, and say plainly when the fan referral matters more than the towel bar.
Surface-mount or recessed medicine cabinet?
Surface-mount is the one-visit answer: it hangs like a heavy mirror on any surface, including tile. Recessed looks cleaner but means opening the stud bay and discovering what is inside it — a separate, larger quote. If unsure, go surface-mount first; it does the same job and burns no bridges.
