Drywall & Plaster Repair, Texture & Caulking in Portland, OR & Vancouver, WA
Drywall and plaster patched, tubs and showers recaulked, cabinet hardware fixed, and the rest of the honey-do list handled in one visit.
What's Included in Drywall Repair, Plaster & Caulking
Every house keeps a list: the hole behind the door, the crack working across the plaster, the caulk going dark around the tub, the drawer that needs a shove to close. We handle drywall repair, plaster repair, texture matching, and tub and shower recaulking for Portland and Vancouver homes — one repair or the whole list, priced per item — plus the hardware and small adjustments in between.
- Drywall patching and hole repair, from anchor pull-outs to doorknob holes
- Lath-and-plaster crack and hole repair in older Portland and Vancouver homes
- Texture matching — orange peel and knockdown — with paint touch-up
- Tub, shower, and sink recaulking with the old bead cut out first
- Cabinet knobs, pulls, and hinges, including soft-close upgrades
- Doors and drawers adjusted so they close and latch properly
- Weatherstripping, squeaks, loose towel bars and hooks, and the rest of the honey-do list
Common Problems We Solve
A doorknob punched a hole in the drywall behind the door
We cut the ragged edges back to sound board, set a backed patch, and build it up in thin coats. Then we match the texture, feather it wide, and touch up the paint. A door stop goes on while we're there so the same hole doesn't come back.
A plaster crack in an older Portland home that widens every winter
We check whether the plaster is still keyed to the lath. Loose sections get reattached with plaster washers or adhesive, then the crack is opened, taped, and finished with compound suited to plaster. That approach holds up better to seasonal movement than a surface fill, though no repair can stop a house from moving.
Bathtub caulk gone black with mildew that scrubbing won't fix
Scrubbing stained silicone rarely lasts, because the growth lives inside the bead. We cut the old caulk out completely, clean and dry the joint, treat it, and run a fresh bead of mold-resistant silicone. We tell you how long it needs to cure before the next shower.
A honey-do list that has been growing for six months
Send the whole list with photos. We price each item and tell you what fits a half day — about eight typical items.
How It Works
Send the list and photos
Text or email the repair — or the whole list — with a photo of each item. We reply with a per-item price and a visit window. For standard repairs, a separate walkthrough is usually not needed.
We arrive stocked
We arrive with drywall and plaster materials, caulk, weatherstripping, and common hardware on the truck, so standard repairs rarely wait on a supply run.
Patch, texture, caulk, adjust
Work runs in dry-time order. Patches and crack repairs go in first, texture and paint touch-up follow, and caulk, hardware, and adjustments fill the gaps between coats so nothing sits idle.
Walk-through and touch-up
We walk the list with you item by item and handle any final tweaks on the spot. If a larger patch needs another coat after drying, we set the short return visit before we leave.
Typical Projects & Pricing
Labor pricing. Materials are itemized in your estimate. Estimates are not final contracts.
What's Not Included
- Plumbing — faucets, toilets, disposals, drains, supply lines — referred to a licensed plumber
- Electrical — outlets, switches, light fixtures, ceiling fans — referred to a licensed electrician
- Full-room drywall hanging and water-damage remediation — quoted separately as a project
What Affects the Price
- Item count
- A single repair gets a straight per-item quote. Adding items to the same visit costs less than booking them separately, since the trip is a large share of a small job's cost — which is why the half-day punch list is priced as a batch.
- Patch size
- A nail hole, a doorknob hole, and a hole spanning studs are three different repairs. Larger patches need backing, more coats, and more drying time.
- Plaster versus drywall
- Lath-and-plaster takes different materials, wider feathering, and more careful edges than drywall, so plaster repairs in older homes run higher.
- Texture matching
- Smooth walls finish fastest. Orange peel and knockdown take extra blending passes so the patch reads as wall, not repair.
- Materials
- Common materials — compound, caulk, weatherstripping, standard hardware — are stocked on the truck and itemized in the estimate. Specialty hardware or color-matched paint can be supplied by you or picked up and itemized.
Drywall Repair, Plaster & Caulking — Frequently Asked Questions
Can you match my wall texture so the patch disappears?
Orange peel and knockdown — the common textures around Portland and Vancouver — both match well. We feather the new texture well past the patch edges and follow with paint touch-up so the repair blends into the surrounding wall. On unusual hand textures we test a small area first and tell you how close the match will get.
Do you repair plaster walls in older homes?
Yes. Lath-and-plaster is standard fare in Portland's older housing stock, and we repair it regularly — cracks, holes, and sections where the plaster has separated from the lath. Plaster takes different materials and wider feathering than drywall, so we quote it as plaster from the start.
How many small jobs fit in one visit?
A half-day visit covers about eight typical items — a patch or two, a recaulk, cabinet hardware, and assorted adjustments. One repair on its own is welcome too: send it with a photo and we quote it as a single item.
Can you fix a leaking faucet or running toilet?
No — a leaking faucet, a running toilet, or anything on supply or drain lines is plumbing, referred to a licensed plumber. What we do handle is the caulk, seals, and hardware around fixtures that don't involve supply or drain lines: recaulking the tub, resealing around the sink, and securing loose bath hardware.
Can you swap a light fixture or outlet?
No — light fixtures, outlets, switches, and ceiling fans are electrical work, referred to a licensed electrician. Once that side is done, we handle the finish work around it: patching and texturing the wall, filling gaps, and paint touch-up.
Do I supply materials or do you?
Either works. The truck is stocked with common materials — joint compound, plaster patch, silicone caulk, weatherstripping, standard door and cabinet hardware — and everything used is itemized in the estimate. If you've already bought hardware or want a specific finish, set it out and we'll install what you supply.
How much does it cost to patch a hole in drywall?
A small patch up to 6 inches with no texture to match starts at $149; a patch up to 12 inches, textured and touched up, runs $199–349. Smaller nail and anchor holes cost less per item. Send photos and we quote each item before scheduling.
How often should you recaulk a bathtub?
Watch the bead, not the calendar. Long damp winters in Portland and Vancouver keep bathroom joints wet, so caulk fails sooner here than in dry climates. Recaulk when the bead darkens, pulls away from the tub or tile, or stays stained after cleaning — for most tubs that means every few years. We cut the old bead out completely rather than layering over it.
