What Shower Door Installation involves in Portland, OR
Older Portland bathrooms were built around a cast-iron tub and a tile surround on a mud bed, and the walls are rarely plumb — an opening can be half an inch wider at the top than at the curb. We measure in three places before you buy the door, then shim and seal the jamb so it closes tight to the glass, not to the gap. Anything on the drain or valve side is plumbing and goes to a licensed plumber. From Hawthorne over to Sellwood, Portland keeps us honest: the house decides the method and we follow it.

Shower Door & Walk-In Glass Installation in Portland, OR — common questions
- How much does Shower Door Installation cost in Portland, OR?
- From $149. What moves the price is the door type and weight (a framed slider versus heavy frameless glass), how square the opening is, what the walls are made of — ceramic, porcelain, stone, or fiberglass — and whether the old door and caulk come out as part of the job. Around Hawthorne and Sellwood, what the house is built of does as much to the price as the job list does. We quote from photos of the actual job, free of charge, and the number is fixed before work begins — no meter running, no surprises.
- Do I need a permit for installing a shower door in Portland, OR?
- No, installing a shower door is not permitted work in Portland, OR — no permit, no inspection, no waiting. Building permits (through the City of Portland's permitting office) only come into it if a job turns structural, and we'd tell you before that happened.
- Which parts of Portland do you cover, and how soon can you come?
- All of Portland, OR — Alberta, Hawthorne, Sellwood, St. Johns and Laurelhurst — plus nearby Gresham, Tigard and Lake Oswego. Same-week appointments are often available; send us photos and a short description and we'll come back with a time and a price.
